• Use cookie cutters and a rolling pin for a more structured activity when they need something to focus on.
• Make it sensory by adding a little lavender oil or vanilla extract to homemade dough.
• Set up a "bakery" or "pizza shop" and take orders from each other.

Homemade vs. store bought

Both work. Homemade dough is softer and you can customize the color and scent, plus making it together is its own activity. Store bought is faster and lasts longer. Either way, the learning is the same.
