Roll your playdough into 2 balls. Keep them apart.
Welcome, Little Scientist!
Things aren't always what they seem...
Let's wonder, predict, experiment + discover!
Ready to experiment?
Choose an experiment and discover the science behind the magic!
Build a real working circuit!
Create a bubbling chemical reaction!
MAGIC #1
Can playdough really help make a light glow? Let's experiment and find out!
Power Pack
LED Light
Magic Wand
Playdough
Your experiment video is coming soon! Until then, grab your Little Magic Lab Notepad and follow along with your circuit pages.
Roll your playdough into 2 balls. Keep them apart.
Push one LED wire into each playdough ball.
Push the red wire into one ball and the black wire into the other.
Flip your battery pack to ON. Did your light glow?
It looked like magic...
You just made a circuit! A circuit is a path that lets electricity travel. When all of your pieces were connected, electricity had a path to travel and your light could glow!
Scientists try things in new ways. What else can you make?
You built a working circuit! Find your I MADE IT GLOW sticker and add it to your Little Magic Lab card.
MAGIC #2
Something exciting is about to happen. But first, let's think like a scientist!
Magic Mix + Fizz Crystals
2 Beakers
Experiment Tray
Your experiment video is coming soon! Your Little Magic Lab Notepad will walk you through the experiment step by step.
What do you think will happen when you pour the water into your Magic Mix?
Prediction made! Now let's experiment.
Put on your lab coat and get your experiment ready.
Add a little Fizz Crystals and a little Magic Mix to one beaker.
Add water to your second beaker.
Slowly pour the water into your Magic Mix.
Scientists watch and listen carefully. What did you notice?
It looked like magic...
You made a chemical reaction! When your ingredients mixed with water, they reacted and created a gas. That gas made all of those tiny fizzing bubbles you saw!
You made a chemical reaction! Find your I MADE IT FIZZ sticker and add it to your Little Magic Lab card.
Every experiment starts with a question. Keep wondering, keep trying and keep discovering!
Look a little closer...
The best part about science is discovering WHY something happens!
You made a circuit! Electricity needs a complete path to travel. Your battery pack gave the circuit power, and your playdough helped electricity travel to your LED light.
You made a chemical reaction! When your ingredients met the water, they reacted and created a gas. The tiny bubbles you saw were that gas escaping from your mixture.
You did more than make things glow + fizz...
Scientists don't always know what will happen. They wonder, make predictions, experiment, and watch closely.
Ask questions about what might happen.
Make your best guess before you experiment.
Try it and see what happens!
Look closely and talk about what you noticed.
Your lab is still open!
Try your lab supplies in new ways. A scientist can experiment more than once!
Rebuild your circuit and see what else you can make your light do.
Scientists change one thing and watch carefully to see what happens.
Grown ups, you're part of the lab too!
You don't need complicated explanations. Some of the best learning happens when children talk about what they think, see, and discover.
Ask a question, then give your little scientist plenty of time to think and answer.
Learning was hiding inside all that fun!
Little scientists build big skills while they experiment, create, and play.
Adult supervision required. Magic Mix and Fizz Crystals are for experimenting only. Do not eat or drink. Avoid contact with eyes. Perform the fizz experiment in an open container only. Never cap or shake a reacting mixture. Batteries and small kit components should be handled and stored with adult supervision.
Great work, scientist!
You wondered. You predicted. You experimented. You discovered. That's exactly what scientists do!
